Battlefield 6 Season 5 adds two maps on October 13, 2026: Vegas Strip, an urban map built around hotel lobbies, rooftops and storm drains, and Area 51, a desert base where vehicle and air combat on the surface feeds into tight underground objectives. EA’s developer guide says to hold high ground on Vegas Strip and keep pressure on Area 51’s underground objectives.
Everything below comes from DICE’s developer map guide and the Season 5 roadmap, both published by EA on October 9, 2026. For the rest of the season, including weapons and REDSEC, see our Season 5 release date guide.
When the Vegas Strip and Area 51 maps arrive
| Map | Arrives | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Vegas Strip | October 13, 2026 (Season 5 launch) | EA Season 5 roadmap |
| Area 51 | October 13, 2026 (Season 5 launch) | EA Season 5 roadmap |
| Third new map (official name not stated) | Later in Season 5; the European Casino is described under the November 10 Casino Heist update | EA Season 5 roadmap |
EA has not given a start time for the October 13 update, so we have not converted it to other time zones. The roadmap also does not list which game modes run on each map. EA’s September 30 community update calls them all-out warfare maps and says both will be available as Verified Portal Experiences at the start of Season 5, with Custom Experiences support later in the season.
If you only have time for the new maps during the free trial, the roadmap lists a Full Game Trial from October 15 to 19, and says the dates may vary by platform; our free trial guide has the exact times for each platform. Our Game Pass guide covers the other way to play from October 13.
Vegas Strip: key areas and how to play it
Vegas Strip puts the fight among casinos and hotels on the Las Vegas Strip. The developer guide describes four areas worth learning first:
- Olympus Pools (Olympus Lobby): an infantry objective built around vertical fighting, with valet and staff entrances, ziplines to the roof and a collapsed dome.
- Crater and Storm Drains: a large crater ringed by a wrecked PAX convoy, with tunnels running under the boulevard.
- Karat Plaza: a public square with fountains and greenery, centred on a casino sign that can be destroyed.
- Art Deco: a hotel whose interior has collapsed into rubble, with an objective in the middle.

Vegas Strip tips from the developers
The guide’s main advice is not to run straight down the open boulevard. Take rooftops and upper floors before pushing an objective, and use the storm drains to move unseen. It points Recon players at intel and coordination from high positions, and suggests helicopters for repositioning and ground vehicles for moving between objectives.

Area 51 is a hidden military base in the Nevada desert, with a dry lakebed and mountains above and a classified research facility below. The guide splits it into a vehicle and air fight on the surface and close infantry fighting underground. The named areas are:
- The Comms Area: a hilltop communications building and car park with long sightlines.
- Crash Site: a downed aircraft on a road, with hangars nearby.
- Helipad: an overwatch spot on the mountainside with anti-air options.
- The Crater: the infantry centre of the map, with tunnels, garages, labs and three objectives.
- Aircraft Control Tower: a sniper position early in the match that can be brought down, which moves the fight into the rubble.
- Climate Testing Hangars: the Hot Climate Hangar mixes infantry and armour, while the Cold Climate Hangar is infantry-focused and holds experimental aircraft.

Area 51 tips from the developers
The guide mentions tanks, helicopters and jets on this map. It suggests Engineers slow armoured pushes and defend objectives, Recon players support from high ground, and pilots use the mountains to manoeuvre. Its key advice is to keep pressure on the underground objectives, and to expect the fight to change once the control tower falls.

What else Area 51 is used for in Season 5
The roadmap says the limited-time Convergence Event, a Dead Space crossover planned for Halloween, begins with a discovery beneath Area 51. EA has since dated it October 20 to November 7 in its Game Update 2.1.1.0 notes; our Dead Space event guide has the details. The roadmap lists Operation High Roller in the Frozen Aces update on December 8, but does not say which maps it uses.
Battlefield 6 Season 5 map and weapon services
Season 5 also adds four launch weapons: the Mk 24, RSPR, Z84M and ELR-40. If you want them levelled while you learn the maps, these fit.

When do Vegas Strip and Area 51 come out in Battlefield 6?
Both arrive with Season 5 on October 13, 2026. EA has not announced a time of day.
What is the third Season 5 map?
EA has not explicitly named the third map. The strongest candidate is the European Casino, described under the November 10 Casino Heist update as a new infantry-focused battleground, but EA does not directly identify it as the season’s third map.
Which modes can you play on the new maps?
Not confirmed. EA describes them as all-out warfare maps but has not published a mode list.
Are Vegas Strip and Area 51 in Portal?
Yes. EA says both are available as Verified Portal Experiences from the start of Season 5, with Custom Experiences support later.
Can you destroy the Area 51 control tower?
Yes. The developer guide says the Aircraft Control Tower can be brought down, which shifts the fight into the rubble.
