The Battlefield 6 free trial runs on PlayStation and Steam only. EA’s terms put the PlayStation window at October 14, 15:00 UTC to October 19, 20:00 UTC, and Steam at October 15, 17:00 UTC to October 19, 17:00 UTC. Xbox is not listed. You can play every available map and mode, and the trial can be played once per EA account.

EA announced the trial in the Game Update 2.1.1.0 notes on October 12, 2026, the patch that opens Season 5. The exact start and end times come from EA’s Battlefield 6 disclaimers page, which the update notes point to.

Battlefield 6 free trial start and end times

EA advertises the trial as October 15 to 19, but its legal terms open the PlayStation window on October 14 at 15:00 UTC, and the two platforms do not stop at the same moment either. EA gives the times in UTC. The other time zones below are our conversion.

PlatformStarts (UTC)Ends (UTC)Starts (PDT / EDT / CEST)Ends (PDT / EDT / CEST)
PlayStationOct 14, 15:00Oct 19, 20:00Oct 14, 8:00 AM / 11:00 AM / 17:00Oct 19, 1:00 PM / 4:00 PM / 22:00

Two things to note. First, the PlayStation window opens a day before the October 15 date in EA’s headline, and closes three hours after Steam. Second, EA says the trial time “is subject to change and may vary by platform”, so check the store page before you plan around the last hour.

Which platforms get the Battlefield 6 free trial?

Only PlayStation and Steam. Both the update notes and the disclaimers page name those two and no others. Xbox and the EA app are not listed.

Xbox players have a different route this month. Battlefield 6 joined Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass on October 13, per Microsoft’s October Game Pass post. That is a subscription, not a free trial.

What you can play in the free trial

EA’s update notes say trial players can “play every available map and mode” and fight across land, air and sea. Season 5 is already live when both trial windows begin. EA’s notes name these Season 5 additions, and since every available map and mode is open, they are part of the trial:

  • Vegas Strip and Area 51, the two new Season 5 maps. Our Area 51 and Vegas Strip map guide covers the key spots on each.
  • REDSEC Rapid Royale, the faster Battle Royale playlist with earned redeploys.

Season 5 also adds four weapons, the Mk 24, RSPR, Z84M and ELR-40, but EA has not said how trial players can unlock or access them during the trial.

EA does not list any mode or map that is locked during the trial. Whether the Season 5 Battle Pass can be progressed or bought during the trial is Not confirmed.

Free trial requirements

The disclaimers page lists what you need before you can launch the trial:

  • A persistent internet connection.
  • An EA account, and acceptance of the EA User Agreement and Privacy and Cookie Policy.
  • On PC, the EA app may need to be installed.
  • On console, access “may require a premium console account or subscription”, which is sold separately. EA does not say whether that means PlayStation Plus for this trial, so treat it as possible.

The trial “can be played once per EA account”.

Does free trial progress carry over to the full game?

Purchases do. EA’s terms say in-game content you buy during the trial “is available for continued use in the full game”, and that it will not be refunded when the trial ends.

Rank, weapon levels and unlocks are a different matter. EA’s trial terms do not mention them, so whether your XP and unlocks carry over if you buy the game is Not confirmed.
