Modern Warfare 4 has 18 Multiplayer perks at launch, six in each of three perk slots, and every loadout runs one perk per slot. Six are ready when Create-a-Class opens at Level 4: Quick Fix, Overkill, Hardline, Blood Rush, Lethal Reach and Combat Grid. The last one, Kill Chain, unlocks at Player Level 48.

The perk list, slots and unlock levels below come from Activision’s Ready for Launch loadout post of October 19, 2026. Perks unlock by Player Level, so the quickest way to the full set is levelling; our MW4 rank boost covers Levels 1 to 55 and is listed as Coming Soon until launch on October 23.

All 18 MW4 perks by slot and unlock level

Activision calls this a “Pick 3” system: one perk from Perk 1, one from Perk 2 and one from Perk 3. Descriptions are shortened from Activision’s own.

* Tracker is listed at Level 32 in the perk table but under Level 31 in the level-by-level appendix of Activision’s Progression and Prestige post. It is the only perk where the two lists disagree. We use 32 until it can be checked in-game after launch.

MW4 perk unlock order from Level 4 to 48

If you only want to know what the next level brings, here is the same list in level order.

  • Level 4: Quick Fix, Overkill, Hardline, Blood Rush, Lethal Reach, Combat Grid
  • Level 8: High Alert
  • Level 12: Battle Hardened
  • Level 16: Bomb Squad
  • Level 20: Fast Hands
  • Level 24: Ghost
  • Level 28: Scavenger
  • Level 30: Ninja
  • Level 31: Resupply
  • Level 32: Tracker (31 in the appendix)
  • Level 36: Cold-Blooded
  • Level 40: Birdseye
  • Level 48: Kill Chain

Level 4 is also where Create-a-Class itself opens; before that you play the default loadouts. Activision’s progression screen shows Create a Class among the first five levels’ rewards, next to the VEL 46 and the Bomb Glider.

Perks that change killstreak costs: Hardline and Kill Chain

Two perks touch killstreaks directly. Hardline, in Perk 2, cuts every killstreak’s cost by one kill, so the 4-kill UAV costs 3. Kill Chain, in Perk 1, lets kills made by your killstreaks count toward your next streak at half value. Activision’s level appendix puts it as “Kills from Killstreaks award half streak points.”

Because they sit in different slots, you can run both in one loadout. The full kill costs are in our MW4 killstreaks guide. Whether either perk applies to the Nuke is not confirmed, because Activision’s launch post does not mention the Nuke.

Classic Prestige and the Permanent Unlock Token

Classic Prestige resets your level unlocks, perks included, except any item you have permanently unlocked with a token. In return you get a 20% XP boost and one Permanent Unlock Token. The token keeps one Level Unlock item of your choice available through every later reset.

Activision’s own advice is to spend tokens on perks, Field Upgrades, killstreaks and equipment rather than weapons. Its reason: any weapon you get as a Store or Battle Pass blueprint is already permanently available. A late perk such as Kill Chain at Level 48 or Cold-Blooded at Level 36 is the kind of item that advice points to. Regular Prestige keeps all your unlocks and has no token. Our Classic vs Regular Prestige guide covers the full trade-off.

MW4 levelling and Prestige services

Every perk is tied to Player Level, and Classic Prestige sends you back to Level 1. These are the services that match; the boosts show as Coming Soon until the game launches.
