Why is there a payment fee, and how do I avoid it?

Updated 9 Sep 20261 min read

The fee is the payment processor’s, not ours. We show it as its own line instead of building it into the price — and paying with crypto removes it entirely.

Card, Apple Pay, Google Pay and PayPal all cost us 2.9% of the order plus $0.30 to accept. Rather than raising every price by an average and hoping it evens out, we add the real amount as a visible line in your order summary.

What it looks like on a real order

OrderCard, wallet or PayPalCrypto
$5.00$5.45$5.00
$20.00$20.88$20.00
$100.00$103.20$100.00

The smaller the order, the more the fixed $0.30 shows. On a $2 order it is most of the fee; on a $100 order it barely registers.

How to avoid it

Pay with crypto. There is no processor fee to pass on, so the total you see is the total you pay. You do not need to hold crypto in advance — the payment page lets you send from any wallet or exchange in whichever of the 300+ supported coins you already have.

Crypto is available on orders of $1.20 and up. Under that, the checkout page shows how much more would unlock it.
