No, legacy weapon camos do not carry over into Warzone when Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 starts. Activision says Operators, Operator Skins and Weapon Blueprints from Modern Warfare II, Modern Warfare III, Black Ops 6 and Black Ops 7 stay usable in Warzone, but corrected its own blog to say weapon camos from those games will not. Legacy guns also lose Gunsmith and your saved custom loadouts.
All of this comes from Activision’s Warzone Season 1 Operator Skin toggle post of September 24, 2026. The first version of that post said legacy camos would be available; a correction added at the top says that was wrong. For what moves from Black Ops 7 into Modern Warfare 4 multiplayer itself, see our Black Ops 7 to MW4 carry forward guide.
What carries over into Warzone in Modern Warfare 4 Season 1
| Item from MWII, MWIII, BO6 or BO7 | In Warzone from MW4 Season 1 |
|---|---|
| Operators | Kept |
| Operator Skins (earned and purchased) | Kept |
| Weapon Blueprints (earned and purchased) | Kept, with their existing attachment setups |
| Base weapons | Kept in the Legacy tab, as a five-attachment version |
| Weapon camos from those games | Not available, per Activision’s correction |
| Gunsmith for legacy weapons | Not supported |
| Your saved Custom Loadouts with legacy weapons | Not supported |
Activision says the collection you have built “remains yours to use,” and that existing Carry Forward plans for earlier games are not affected. The camo line is the exception the correction carves out.
MW4 Warzone Mastery CamosActivision says legacy weapon camos from MWII through BO7 will not be available in Warzone from MW4 Season 1.Coming soonView offerHow legacy weapons work in Warzone after the switch
Every weapon from Modern Warfare II through Black Ops 7 stays in the Legacy tab of the Loadout menu. What changes is how you can build them:
- No Gunsmith: you cannot customize legacy weapons or legacy Blueprints.
- Five-attachment versions: instead of bare base guns, each legacy weapon gets a preset five-attachment version, unlockable through the Armory.
- Blueprints keep their builds: a legacy Blueprint comes with its existing attachments.
- Old custom loadouts are not supported. Plan to rebuild your classes when Season 1 goes live.
Activision’s stated goal is a weapon meta “distinctly rooted in Modern Warfare 4,” with Raven Software balancing weapons every two weeks. In practice, the guns you can fully tune in Gunsmith will be the MW4 ones.

This is the same pattern Warzone followed when Black Ops 7 took over in Season 01. Back then, Activision’s Season 01 post said legacy weapons kept working but did not support Weapon Prestige camos, Black Ops 7 and Warzone Mastery Camos, or build codes.
The Warzone Operator Skin toggle, explained
Season 1 also adds a filter for players who want Warzone to look like Modern Warfare 4 only. It works in Warzone, not in MW4 multiplayer:
- When the toggle is on, any Operator or skin from another Call of Duty game worn by another player shows up as a Modern Warfare 4 Operator. That applies to enemies, party members and squadmates, in the lobby and in matches.
- Your own Operator does not change. You still see the one you picked, even if it is from another game.
- It only affects your screen. Other players still see your skin as normal.
- It is off by default.

So buying or earning an older skin is not wasted. Players with the toggle on just will not see it on you.
When this takes effect
The changes apply “starting with Season 1 of Modern Warfare 4.” Modern Warfare 4 launches on October 23, 2026, per Activision’s MW4 PC launch post. Activision has not given Season 1 a date in the toggle post, so until then Warzone keeps running on the Black Ops 7 rules. If you are chasing a Black Ops 7 Warzone goal before the switch, such as a Nuke, our Warzone Nuke guide covers the current requirements.

Do Black Ops 7 camos carry over to Warzone in MW4?
No. Activision’s correction says weapon camos from Modern Warfare II, Modern Warfare III, Black Ops 6 and Black Ops 7 will not be available in Warzone.
Do I keep my Operator skins in Warzone?
Yes. Operators and Operator Skins from those four games stay available, including ones you bought.
Can I still use Black Ops 7 guns in Warzone?
Yes, from the Legacy tab, as five-attachment versions or as your Blueprints. You cannot edit them in Gunsmith.
Does the Operator Skin toggle hide my skin from other players?
Only for players who turn it on in their own settings. It changes what they see, not what you wear.
When does Warzone switch to Modern Warfare 4?
At the start of Modern Warfare 4 Season 1. Activision has not dated Season 1 in the toggle post; MW4 itself launches October 23, 2026.
