What Carries Forward From Black Ops 7 to Modern Warfare 4

The confirmed list is short and mostly pre-order rewards. Here is what Activision has actually said, what a community manager added on X, and what is still nowhere in its material.

As of September 18, 2026, Activision has published no Carry Forward policy for Modern Warfare 4. Two Black Ops 7-side things are confirmed to cross over: the digital pre-order rewards (the Hunter Killer skin and two universal camos), and, per a Call of Duty community manager, unspent 2XP tokens. Your own weapons, camos, blueprints, Operators and Prestige are not addressed anywhere. COD Points are expected to follow your platform account.

What carries forward from Black Ops 7 to Modern Warfare 4

Three different things get mixed together in most answers to this question, so the lists below keep them apart: what is confirmed to cross over from Black Ops 7, what is a Modern Warfare 4 entitlement simply waiting for you at launch, and what Activision has not confirmed at all. Everything here was checked on September 18, 2026.

Does Black Ops 7 carry over to Modern Warfare 4? Weapons, camos and Prestige

Activision has not confirmed that any of it does. It has not ruled it out either — it simply has not addressed Black Ops 7 weapons, camos, blueprints, Operators or Prestige for Modern Warfare 4 anywhere. When Modern Warfare II moved to Modern Warfare III in 2023, Activision wrote a dedicated Carry Forward post explaining how weapons, Bundles, Operators and other unlocks would move to the new game. There is no equivalent post for Modern Warfare 4. The announcement, the editions page, the bonus content page and the Beta guide together mention only the items in the table above.

The closest official precedent points the same way. In its August 26, 2025 community update, Activision said “Black Ops 6 Operator and Weapon content will not carry forward to Black Ops 7,” while “Double XP tokens and GobbleGums will still carry forward,” and “Call of Duty: Warzone is not affected, and all your Black Ops 6 content stays usable there.” The confirmed Modern Warfare 4 list has the same shape so far, tokens yes and weapons and Operators unmentioned, but that 2025 wording is about Black Ops 7. Activision has not published the equivalent for Modern Warfare 4.

Media coverage goes one step further. Windows Central’s September 12, 2026 report states that Black Ops 7 weapons, weapon progress, camos, blueprints and Operators will not be available in Modern Warfare 4, and the same wording has been repeated across other outlets. None of them cite an Activision statement for it. The safe reading is to plan as if nothing from your Black Ops 7 armory comes across, and to expect any change to arrive as an official Carry Forward post rather than a rumor.

That includes the Mastery camos. The Molten Gold to Genesis track from Black Ops 7 Endgame, the Multiplayer and Zombies mastery sets and your Prestige level are all Black Ops 7 progression, and no Activision page lists any of them for Modern Warfare 4.

Do 2XP tokens carry over from Warzone and Black Ops 7?

This is the one piece of ordinary progression anyone official has said yes to. On August 6, 2026, the Call of Duty community manager account replied to a post about the Monster Energy cans with: “We’ll be sippin’ on Monster and popping 2XP with the community on Day 1 of MP. (Your tokens from WZ/BO7 also transfer over.)” It is a post on X, not a support article, which is why the table above cites it separately.

Tokens from the current promotion are covered in writing. Activision’s Monster Energy support page says “2XP Tokens and other digital content unlocked through Monster Energy promotions will be banked and ready for use in Modern Warfare 4 at launch,” and that “2XP Tokens do not need to be used before the promotion ends or by the final redemption date.” Two limits apply across every promotion: a cap of 40 hours of each token type per account, and a maximum of one hour of each type used in-game per day. On the strength of that post, there is no need to burn existing Black Ops 7 or Warzone tokens before October 23 if you would rather save them for launch day. Activision has not repeated the point in a support article.

Do COD Points carry over to Modern Warfare 4?

Not in so many words. Activision has not published a COD Points article for Modern Warfare 4; its support hub listed six articles on September 18, 2026, covering editions, bonus content, Beta rewards, PC requirements, the Monster Energy promotion and bug reporting, and none of them covers the currency. What it does have is a standing rule, worded the same way on its Warzone, Black Ops 7, Black Ops 6 and Modern Warfare III support pages. The Warzone COD Points page, updated June 25, 2026, says “You will only see and be able to spend COD Points on the platform you purchased them on,” while “items you purchase with COD Points are shared across all platforms you have linked to your Activision account unless they are exclusive to a specific platform.” The Black Ops 7 page says the same, as do the Black Ops 6 and Modern Warfare III pages.

So the balance is attached to your PlayStation, Xbox, Battle.net or Steam account rather than to the game you were playing when you bought it, and that is the basis on which the outlets above report COD Points as carrying into Modern Warfare 4 “so long as you’re staying on the same platform”. Treat it as the expected outcome rather than a published Modern Warfare 4 rule. Two neighbouring points are documented. Vault Edition buyers get 1,100 COD Points through BlackCell, and Activision’s Bonus Content page says those become accessible in Modern Warfare 4 once the Season 01 Battle Pass is live. And on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, where Warzone shuts down with Modern Warfare 4 Season 1, the Warzone Platform Update says unspent COD Points transfer to a current-generation console within the same family on your linked account.

Pre-order rewards you earn in Black Ops 7 now and keep in Modern Warfare 4

These are the only Black Ops 7-side items with a written guarantee, and they need a digital pre-order or pre-purchase of any Modern Warfare 4 edition. Activision’s Bonus Content page says the Hunter Killer Operator Skin “will be instantly granted in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and Call of Duty: Warzone and later in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 at launch after downloading the game,” with no code needed. Its footnote adds that the Black Ops 7 and Warzone use requires those games and that the skin must be redeemed by October 23, 2027.

The Gilded Pearl Weapon Camo Pack works the same way. Moonlit Pearl unlocked instantly in Black Ops 7 at the start of Season 05 on July 23, 2026. Gilded Ruin is earned by a special Challenge that opened at 12:00 PM PT that day; the pre-order guide sets the target at 5,000 Skulls, and Warzone eliminations pay the most towards it at 30 Skulls each. Both camos “will unlock instantly in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 at launch,” so a Gilded Ruin you finish grinding now is the one you will have on day one. Vault Edition extras are Modern Warfare 4 content from the start rather than Black Ops 7 items: the two Operator packs and the Signature Weapon Collection are granted in Modern Warfare 4 at launch and reach Warzone in Season 01.

What happens to your Black Ops 7 content in Warzone after Modern Warfare 4 Season 1

Warzone is where Activision has historically let the previous game’s content keep living, and the announcement post sets the timing: “Beginning in Season 1, Call of Duty: Warzone will integrate Modern Warfare 4 content and seasonal progression as part of a connected experience between both titles.” Season 1 follows “shortly after” the October 23 launch, with no date attached; launch-day timing is tracked in our Modern Warfare 4 release date guide.

What Warzone does with Black Ops 7 weapons and Operators at that point has not been published. The precedent is clear, though. When Warzone integrated Black Ops 7 on December 4, 2025, the Season 01 post said weapons from Modern Warfare II, Modern Warfare III and Black Ops 6 “are still accessible and usable in Call of Duty: Warzone” through a Legacy menu at the far right of each weapon slot, and that you could “access every Operator you’ve accessed or unlocked” across all four games. Legacy weapons did not support the newer game’s Weapon Prestige and Weapon Prestige Camos. Expect the same treatment for Black Ops 7 content in Warzone once Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 arrives, and treat it as an expectation until Activision posts the Season 1 rules.

One group loses access outright. Warzone “will no longer be playable” on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One from Season 1; those consoles keep Warzone through Black Ops 7 Season 06 if it is already installed, and their in-game store closed on June 25, 2026.

Beta progress is gone, Beta rewards are not

If you played the August Beta, the Open Beta guide is explicit about what survived: “Gameplay progression resets when the Beta concludes,” including player level, weapon unlocks and other in-Beta progression. Cosmetic rewards earned in the Beta or through Twitch Drops “are tied to your Activision Account and will be available when Modern Warfare 4 launches,” and Activision’s Beta Rewards support page, updated August 20, 2026, says the same. Playing Weekend One also earned progress in the Black Ops 7 Season 05 Battle Pass, which stayed in Black Ops 7.

Should you keep playing Black Ops 7 before October 23?

Play it for what you will use in Black Ops 7 itself, where your progression plainly stays. Whether any of it still has value in Warzone after Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 depends on rules Activision has not published. Three things are worth finishing before launch if they apply to you:

  • The Gilded Ruin challenge, if you pre-ordered digitally: the camo is earned in Black Ops 7 or Warzone and then unlocks in Modern Warfare 4 automatically.
  • Your first Monster Energy code upload before October 23, which also grants a Black Ops 7 Sticker and Emblem according to Monster Energy’s rewards page; every later code adds 2XP time that carries into Modern Warfare 4.
  • Black Ops Royale, which Activision’s Season 06 announcement calls “your last chance to play” the mode, with its weapon camos to earn before the season ends.

Activision has not announced an end date for Black Ops 7 itself, and Season 6 started on September 17, 2026. Nothing else you earn there is confirmed for Modern Warfare 4 as of September 18, 2026, so treat the last five weeks as Black Ops 7 time, not as a head start on the next game.

Do my Black Ops 7 camos transfer to Modern Warfare 4?
Not announced. The only camos Activision has confirmed for Modern Warfare 4 from the Black Ops 7 side are Moonlit Pearl and Gilded Ruin, the digital pre-order bonuses.

Do 2XP tokens carry over to Modern Warfare 4?
Yes. Activision Support says Monster Energy tokens are banked for launch, and the Call of Duty community manager said on August 6, 2026 that tokens from Warzone and Black Ops 7 transfer over.

Do COD Points carry over to Modern Warfare 4?
Not confirmed for Modern Warfare 4 specifically. On its Warzone, Black Ops 7, Black Ops 6 and Modern Warfare III support pages, Activision’s rule is that COD Points can only be spent on the platform where you bought them, and nothing it has published says that changes with Modern Warfare 4.
