Modern Warfare 4 launches on October 23, 2026 with 20 multiplayer maps: 12 Core 6v6 maps, the Kill Block training facility, 3 Ground War maps and 4 Gunfight maps. There are 13 launch modes, four of them new: Hijack, Inflation, Collateral and Ground War: Combat Outpost. Shipment follows on October 27.
The full list comes from the launch roadmap the official Call of Duty account posted on October 14, 2026, under the heading “Playable on October 23”. The split into 12 Core maps, Kill Block, Gunfight and Big War maps matches what Activision said in its May 28 announcement, and Activision’s Maps and Modes Confirmed post of October 21 lists the same maps and modes.

The roadmap labels Ground War and Gunfight maps in brackets; the rest are the Core maps plus Kill Block.

Activision calls the large maps “Big War maps built for large-scale vehicles and infantry combat” in the announcement; the roadmap tags the same three as Ground War. It also says each of the 12 Core maps has “a custom infil and distinct visual identity”. Kill Block is the odd one out. Activision’s announcement places it inside the Westbridge Training Facility and says it is built from modular sections that make “more than 500 distinct configurations”, with the combat space reconfiguring between rounds. At launch it supports expanded Gunfight formats, including 3v3 and 10v10, and Activision says more core modes and more sections are planned for later seasons. Maps and modes coming after October 23
Before launch, digital pre-orders got the Campaign from October 16 and DMZ Early Access from October 20. After launch, the roadmap adds:
- October 27: Shipment, covered in our MW4 Shipment release date guide
- October 29: Possession Mode (new)
- October 30: Infected Mode
- November 6: Season 1 for MW4 and Warzone
No time of day is given for any of these dates, so they are not converted into time zones here.
