The Wardogs assault rifle ladder is AK-74 at Assault level 3, Galil at 10, M4 at 20 and FAL at 35. Community testing agrees on the shape: the Galil is the best all-round buy at level 10, the M4 is the fastest-firing and most divisive, and the FAL hits twice as hard per shot but costs almost three times as much per life. “Best” depends on how often you die.
Bulkhead has not published a weapon stat table for WARDOGS, so this guide is built from community sources: two media weapon databases, a game-file readout, and two community build sites, all dated September 4 to 19, 2026. Where they disagree, the disagreement is printed rather than averaged. Cash numbers matter here because every rifle is a recurring cost per spawn; how to earn cash fast covers the income side, and the Season 1 XP curve shows how long each Assault level takes.
Wardogs assault rifle unlock levels and prices
These come from G2A’s Assault guide (September 11) and WardogsBuild (September 16), which agree on the level gates; the per-life prices also match FandomWire’s September 19 ranking. The T-21 has no level gate.
| Rifle | Assault level | One-time unlock | Cost per life | Calibre |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| T-21 | None | — | $600 | 5.56x45mm |
| AK-74 | 3 | $10,000 | $1,600 | 5.45x39mm |
| Galil | 10 | $35,000 | $2,200 | 5.56x45mm |
| M4 | 20 | $100,000 | $2,800 | 5.56x45mm |
| FAL | 35 | $200,000 | $6,500 | .308 Winchester |

The per-life cost is the number that decides your rifle. The Steam screenshot above shows the HUD deducting the loadout price on spawn; at $6,500 a life, a FAL user who dies eight times in a round has spent $52,000 on the rifle alone, before attachments, armour and vehicles. That is the whole argument for the Galil in the middle of the ladder.
Wardogs assault rifle stats: damage and fire rate compared
The damage and fire-rate figures below come from community testing and game-file reads, not from an official stat table. Three sources give body damage; they do not fully agree, so both ends are shown.
| Rifle | Body damage (range across sources) | Fire rate | Muzzle velocity | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| AK-74 | 26 (FandomWire, Dexerto) to 28 (GameRant torso) | 650 RPM | 880 m/s | GameRant lists 61 head damage |
| Galil | 28 (Dexerto, FandomWire) | 650 RPM | 950 m/s (highest of the five) | Dexerto: 400 m effective range |
| M4 | 28 (FandomWire) to 30 (GameRant torso, WardogsBuild) | 800 RPM | Not listed | GameRant lists 65 head damage |
| FAL | 60 (FandomWire, WardogsBuild) to 66 (GameRant torso) | 650 RPM | Not listed | GameRant lists 141 head damage; two shots on an unarmoured target per WardogsBuild |
| T-21 | 28 (FandomWire) | 750 RPM | Not listed | Full-auto starter option |
XGamingServer’s September 16 readout, which the author says was “pulled straight from the game files,” adds the handling side: aim time of 0.45 s for the AK-74, about 0.49 s for the Galil and M4, and 0.53 s for the T-21; an accuracy spread value of 0.83 for the AK-74, 0.84 for the M4 and 0.58 for the FAL, where lower is tighter. Its fire rates are given as ranges (650–700 RPM for the AK-74, Galil and FAL; 800 for the M4), which is why the table above uses the round numbers the other sources share. Single community source for the handling figures.
Two things fall out of the numbers regardless of which source you trust. The AK-74, Galil and M4 all sit in a 26–30 damage band, so the differences between them are fire rate, velocity, recoil and price rather than raw hit power. The FAL is in a different class: at 60-plus damage it drops an unarmoured player in two body shots, which is why every source treats it as a marksman rifle that happens to be labelled assault.
AK-74 vs Galil: which to buy first
Buy the AK-74 at Assault 3 and ride it to level 10. G2A calls it “the first obvious weapon upgrade” and “affordable enough for repeated frontline lives,” and WardogsBuild’s summary is “reliable, accurate, good irons.” At $1,600 a life it is the cheapest rifle that is not a starter.
At level 10 the Galil is the consensus upgrade. WardogsBuild’s reasoning is that it has higher damage per shot than the AK-74 and a slower fire rate that is easier to control at range, and Dexerto’s 950 m/s velocity figure is the highest of the group, which matters on a 2×2 km control zone where a lot of fights are at distance. Dexerto’s own tier placement, oddly, puts the Galil at A while rating the M4 and FAL S; FandomWire ranks the Galil fourth behind the T-21. That disagreement is worth knowing: the Galil wins on the “price for what you get” argument, not on being the strongest rifle.

Wardogs Galil UnlockThe Galil is the level-10 rifle every source lands on as the mid-game buy; the unlock alone is $35,000 on top of the level. From $58.99View offerM4 vs FAL: the level 20 and level 35 question
M4 (Assault 20, $100,000 unlock, $2,800 per life). It is the only rifle in the group at 800 RPM. GameRant calls it “a more comfortable weapon overall” than the AK-74 and pairs it with a Topcom brake, a rubberised foregrip and a CQ-2x prism scope to hold the recoil down; FandomWire’s line is “best all-rounder for standard infantry fights.” WardogsBuild says the M4 divides players and tells you to try it in the range before committing, treating it “as a personal preference rather than an upgrade.” That is the fair summary: more bullets per second, heavier recoil, and $600 more per life than the Galil for the privilege.
FAL (Assault 35, $200,000 unlock, $6,500 per life). This is the apex rifle in every source. FandomWire: “deals 60 damage per hit, more than double any other rifle.” GameRant: “strongest punch” but “harsh recoil,” with a recommendation to run it in single fire. WardogsBuild: flick it to semi-auto and use it as a mini marksman rifle. G2A adds the sensible caveat that at this price you buy it “when you have a reason to value its harder-hitting .308 Win setup,” not because the number is bigger. Reaching Assault 35 is also a long climb on the Season 1 curve, so most players will spend weeks between the M4 and the FAL.
Which Wardogs assault rifle is best for your budget
- Under Assault 10: AK-74. Nothing else is available that is not a starter, and it is cheap enough to lose.
- Assault 10 to 20, steady cash: Galil. Best velocity, controllable, $2,200 a life.
- Assault 20+, aggressive playstyle: M4, if the 800 RPM suits you after a range test. If it does not, stay on the Galil; there is no evidence the M4 out-damages it.
- Assault 35, long-range or rich: FAL. Two-shot body kills on unarmoured targets, single-fire, and a bill that only makes sense if you survive.
Bulkhead’s Season 02 teaser on Steam dates Season 2 to October 15, 2026, with a progression reset, as reported by Vice and TechWiser; our Season 2 wipe guide covers what carries over. Bulkhead has said weapon tuning changes between seasons, so re-check the damage figures after the patch.
