Polar Patriots and Cutting Edge are the tightest Premium Warbonds: nine gameplay items each for under 675 Medals to clear. The free Helldivers Mobilize! Warbond beats both at 67 completion Medals per item and pays you 750 Super Credits. Chemical Agents is the loosest at 136. Legendary Warbonds sit mid-table on Medals — their cost is in Super Credits, 1,500 with nothing paid back.

There are 25 Warbonds and 19,325 Medals between you and owning everything in them. That is a long grind to walk into blind, so this page ranks them on one measurable thing, shows the working, and separates the two costs people keep mixing up.
The two costs, kept apart
A Warbond charges you twice, and the two currencies behave completely differently:
- Super Credits unlock the Warbond itself. Premium: 1,000, with 300 claimable back from inside, so 700 net. Legendary: 1,500, with nothing paid back. The free Standard Warbond instead gives you 750.
- Medals unlock the items inside. This is where the real grind is, and where Warbonds differ from each other by nearly a factor of two.
Most “best Warbond” lists collapse these into one verdict. They should not be collapsed: on Medals the Legendary Warbonds are unremarkable, while on Super Credits they are the worst buys on the board.
How we ranked them, and what the number does not tell you
All figures come from the community-run Helldivers Wiki’s individual Warbond pages, checked on September 23, 2026. Arrowhead does not publish a complete public cost table, so player-maintained data is the only complete source.
The ranking is completion Medals per gameplay item: the Medals it takes to empty a Warbond, divided by the number of gameplay items in it. It answers one narrow question — if you clear this Warbond, how many Medals does each piece of gear work out at?
It does not tell you what proportion of your Medals went on cosmetics. Those are different measures and they rank differently: Polar Patriots tops our table, but 34.5% of its completion cost is cosmetic, while Redacted Regiment sits sixth with the lowest cosmetic share of any Warbond at 25%. We cover that separately further down.
Every reward in a Warbond falls into one of three buckets, and keeping them apart matters for the second half of this page:
- Gameplay items — weapons, Stratagems, Boosters, throwables, backpacks, sentries, emplacements, vehicles and body armour, counted as one item per set. Armour carries an armour rating and a passive, so it changes how you play.
- Super Credit rewards — the 100-credit payouts inside the Warbond. These are currency coming back to you, not decoration, so they are counted separately from both other buckets. Every Premium Warbond spends exactly 51 Medals on them (7, 12 and 32 across the three pages).
- Cosmetics — helmets, capes, player cards, patterns, titles, emotes and victory poses. Helmets sit here because in Helldivers 2 they carry no stats, unlike body armour.
The honest limitation, up front: this is a completion figure, and you do not have to complete a Warbond. Each page only opens once you have spent a threshold of Medals in that Warbond, so if you buy only the gear and the cheapest filler needed to reach the next page, you pay less than the number in our table. How much less varies, and the next section works one example through.
We are not ranking on that lower figure, and the reason is a data gap rather than a preference: the wiki publishes page unlock thresholds for only 13 of the 25 Warbonds, and on three more its threshold values and its “All Pages Unlocked” total contradict each other. Ranking 25 Warbonds on a number we can only derive for 13 would be a precision we do not have.
What this measure also does not do is tell you whether an item is any good. There is no complete official cross-weapon comparison dataset and we have not run our own tests, so there is no strength tier list on this page.

| 25 | Chemical Agents | Premium | 700 | 6 | 814 | 136 |
* On these two the wiki’s own item table does not reconcile with its page totals — Entrenched Division’s items add up to 892 against stated page totals of 888, and Castellan’s Creed’s to 666 against a stated 657, with no per-page breakdown published. Their Medal totals are taken from the infobox, which does reconcile across the set; treat the two rows as approximate. Every other Warbond’s item table reconciles exactly.
The spread across Premium Warbonds is close to twofold: clearing Polar Patriots costs 74 Medals per gameplay item, Chemical Agents 136. Both cost the same 700 Super Credits to own.
What the gear actually costs, using Cutting Edge as the example

Cutting Edge is a good worked example because its thresholds are unambiguous on the wiki: page two opens at 60 Medals spent, page three at 230.
Its nine gameplay items list at 390 Medals in total, three per page. You cannot spend exactly up to a threshold, though — rewards are bought whole, so reaching one means picking the cheapest combination of cosmetics that gets you over the line. Working it through:
- Page one gear: 56 Medals — Localization Confusion Booster 18, LAS-16 Sickle 20, EX-03 Prototype 3 body armour 18.
- Add the 7-Medal Super Credit reward: 63. That clears the 60 threshold and opens page two. Nothing on page one gets you from 56 to 60 more cheaply — the next cheapest option is a 2-Medal player card, which only reaches 58.
- Page two gear: +130, running total 193 — SG-8P Punisher Plasma 60, G-23 Stun 25, EX-16 body armour 45.
- Add 37 Medals of cosmetics: 230. The cape at 20, the Super Credit reward at 12 and the player card at 5 come to exactly 37, which lands on the threshold with nothing wasted and opens page three.
- Page three gear: +204 — ARC-12 Blitzer 80, LAS-7 Dagger 60, EX-00 body armour 64.
That comes to 434 Medals for all nine gameplay items, against 672 to empty the Warbond. The 44 Medals of cosmetics in the middle are unavoidable; the rest of the difference is what you skip.
Expect a gap of that kind on most Warbonds. It is the reason the table above should be read as completion cost and nothing more — it is not what the gear costs you, and a Warbond that looks efficient to empty is not automatically the cheapest place to buy gear.
Polar Patriots WarbondPolar Patriots, the lowest completion cost per gameplay item of any Premium Warbond. No account login · just your friend codeFrom $9.00View offerThe tightest Premium Warbonds are all from 2024

Every Warbond in the top five was released in 2024, and the four Premiums among them share a shape: nine gameplay items each, spread three to a page.
- Polar Patriots (May 2024) — 669 Medals to clear, 74 per gameplay item. AR-61 Tenderizer at 20, SMG-72 Pummeler, PLAS-101 Purifier, P-113 Verdict, and the Motivational Shocks Booster at 15.
- Cutting Edge (March 2024) — 672, 75 per item. LAS-16 Sickle at 20, SG-8P Punisher Plasma, ARC-12 Blitzer, LAS-7 Dagger, G-23 Stun, Localization Confusion at 18.
- Steeled Veterans (February 2024) — 686, 76 per item. Holds the P-4 Senator at 15 and the JAR-5 Dominator.
- Democratic Detonation (April 2024) — 699, 78 per item. G-123 Thermite at 15, R-36 Eruptor, CB-9 Exploding Crossbow, GP-31 Grenade Pistol.
Redacted Regiment is worth separating out, because it shows why one number is not enough. It is the cheapest Premium Warbond to empty at 628 Medals, yet it ranks sixth here — purely because it holds eight gameplay items rather than nine, so the same total is divided by a smaller number. On the other measure it is the best of all 25: only 25% of its completion cost is cosmetic, the lowest share on the board. If you want a tidy 100% completion for the fewest Medals, or the least of your spend going on decoration, it is the one to pick.
One footnote on Steeled Veterans, because it can be free. The wiki notes it once shipped with the Super Citizen Edition, later replaced by a Premium Warbond Token good for one Premium Warbond of your choice — and Legendary Warbonds are not eligible. The token pays the Super Credits, not the Medals, so spend it on whichever Premium you actually want rather than on whichever is cheapest to finish.
The free Warbond beats every paid one on completion cost

Helldivers Mobilize! costs nothing, holds 30 gameplay items — more than three times any Premium Warbond — and comes out at 67 completion Medals each, the best figure on the board. It is also where the Boosters most squads treat as standard live: Hellpod Space Optimization at 15 Medals, Vitality Enhancement at 20.
It contains 750 Super Credits, and this is where a popular shortcut goes wrong. Finishing it does not hand you a Premium Warbond, because unlocking one requires 1,000 Super Credits up front and the 300 rebate only arrives afterwards. With 750 in hand you are still 250 short of opening anything. What is true is that 750 comfortably exceeds a Premium Warbond’s 700 net cost — so once you have fronted the 1,000, the free Warbond has paid for it and left you 50 ahead.
Either way it is the first thing to finish, and farming Super Credits covers closing that last 250, and our guide to how long a free Warbond takes puts hours on it.
Legendary Warbonds: mid-table on completion cost, worst on Super Credits

This is the section most lists get backwards, ours included until we ran the numbers properly. On completion cost the three Legendary Warbonds are middling, not terrible: they rank 13th, 14th and 17th of 25. None of them is a Medal trap.
The problem is entirely the Super Credits. A Legendary Warbond costs 1,500 and returns nothing. A Premium costs 1,000 and returns 300, so 700 net. That is more than double the price for the same kind of access, and it does not improve with time — the wiki also notes Legendary Warbonds have no corresponding Superstore section, unlike most Premium ones, and the Premium Warbond Token cannot be spent on them.
All three are licensed crossovers, and they are three different licences rather than one:
| Warbond | Crossover | Gameplay items include |
|---|---|---|
| Obedient Democracy Support Troopers | Halo | MA5C Assault Rifle, M7S SMG, M90A Shotgun, M6C/SOCOM Pistol |
| Righteous Revenants | Killzone | StA-52 Assault Rifle, StA-11 SMG, PLAS-39 Accelerator Rifle |
| Castellan’s Creed | Warhammer 40,000 | R/40-K Hot-Shot Marksman Rifle, P/40-K Bolt Pistol, G/40-K Melta Mine, 40-K Meltagun |
Which is the actual argument for buying one: you want a Bolt Pistol or an MA5C, and no amount of arithmetic substitutes for that. Just buy it knowing the premium you are paying is in Super Credits, not Medals.
Where your Medals actually go: the cosmetic share
This is the separate measure promised earlier, and it answers a different question: of the Medals it takes to clear a Warbond, what proportion buys decoration? We split the completion total into the three buckets defined above — gameplay items, Super Credit rewards and cosmetics — and take the cosmetic slice. Super Credit rewards are kept out of it deliberately: they are currency handed back to you, not decoration, and lumping them in would overstate every Premium Warbond’s cosmetic share by 51 Medals.
The five Warbonds where the most of your spend goes on gear:
| Warbond | Medals to empty | Gameplay | Super Credits | Cosmetic | Cosmetic share | Rank on the main table |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Redacted Regiment | 628 | 420 | 51 | 157 | 25.0% | 6 |
| Control Group | 713 | 470 | 51 | 192 | 26.9% | 12 |
| Masters of Ceremony | 641 | 415 | 51 | 175 | 27.3% | 8 |
| Borderline Justice | 663 | 415 | 51 | 197 | 29.7% | 10 |
| Servants of Freedom | 598 | 350 | 51 | 197 | 32.9% | 11 |
And the five where most of the total is decoration:
| Warbond | Medals to empty | Gameplay | Super Credits | Cosmetic | Cosmetic share | Rank on the main table |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Truth Enforcers | 686 | 250 | 51 | 385 | 56.1% | 18 |
| Righteous Revenants | 562 | 250 | 0 | 312 | 55.5% | 17 |
| Viper Commandos | 734 | 295 | 51 | 388 | 52.9% | 20 |
| Freedom’s Flame | 569 | 228 | 51 | 290 | 51.0% | 9 |
| Obedient Democracy Support Troopers | 637 | 325 | 0 | 312 | 49.0% | 13 |
The Super Credits column is flat by design: every Premium Warbond spends exactly 51 Medals on its three 100-credit rewards, and the three Legendary Warbonds contain none at all — which is the same reason they cost 1,500 net rather than 700.
Two rows show why one number is not enough. Redacted Regiment is only sixth on completion cost but first here. Freedom’s Flame is the reverse: ninth on the main table because it is cheap to empty at 569 Medals, yet 51% of that goes on cosmetics — it is cheap, not gear-dense.
Separately from either measure, four Premium Warbonds hold only six gameplay items: Chemical Agents, Python Commandos, Viper Commandos and Truth Enforcers. Chemical Agents is the starkest — 814 Medals to empty for six gameplay items, against Cutting Edge’s 672 for nine.
Urban Legends deserves separating out. It ranks 19th, but it contains no guns at all — its gameplay items are the Directional Shield backpack, the Flame Sentry, the Anti-Tank Emplacement, the CQC-19 Stun Lance, the Armed Resupply Pods Booster and two armour sets. It is the only Warbond with an Emplacement, and one of only two with a Sentry and only two with a melee weapon. If you are filling gaps in your equipment types rather than adding another rifle, its rank understates it.

What order to buy them in
This order assumes you intend to clear each Warbond you open. If you plan to buy only the gear and leave the cosmetics, completion cost is the wrong filter — what matters then is the page thresholds, and the wiki publishes those for only 13 of the 25. Treat the order below as a default to deviate from, not a schedule:
- Finish Helldivers Mobilize! first. Free, 30 gameplay items, the best completion density on the board, and 750 Super Credits towards your first Premium.
- Then the 2024 Premiums: Polar Patriots, Cutting Edge, Steeled Veterans, Democratic Detonation — 74 to 78 completion Medals per gameplay item, nine items each, the most gameplay items of any Premium Warbond.
- Then fill gaps rather than follow ranks. Past the top five the gaps narrow, and “which of these has an equipment type I do not own” beats our table. Urban Legends and Control Group both hold things you will not find elsewhere.
- Legendary Warbonds last, and only for the crossover gear itself — middling on completion cost and poor on Super Credits.
Two things make that order safe to follow slowly. Arrowhead’s FAQ states Warbonds are evergreen and never expire, and you can progress several at once — spend 50 Medals in one, switch to another.
One caution, because it cuts against hoarding: the wiki puts a hard cap of 250 Medals on what you can hold, and says anything earned beyond it is discarded. Saving up indefinitely for a future Warbond does not work — past 250 you are earning nothing. How to farm Medals covers the supply side, and the current release is on our new Warbond page.

Which Helldivers 2 Warbond is the best value?
The free Helldivers Mobilize! Warbond: 30 gameplay items at 67 completion Medals each, and it costs nothing. Among Premium Warbonds, Polar Patriots at 74 and Cutting Edge at 75. Two things that figure does not mean: it is not the share of your Medals that goes on cosmetics (Redacted Regiment wins that at 25%), and it is not what the gear alone costs, which depends on page thresholds the wiki publishes for only 13 of the 25.
Which Warbond has the best weapons?
Not something we can answer from sources. There is no complete official cross-weapon comparison dataset and we have not run our own tests, so this guide ranks cost, not strength. Anyone giving you a definitive power order is giving you an opinion.
Do I have to empty a Warbond to get its gear?
No, and the difference is large. Page thresholds force some filler purchases, but buying only gear plus that filler costs well under the completion figure — on Cutting Edge, 434 Medals for all nine gameplay items against 672 to empty it. The wiki only publishes those thresholds for 13 of the 25 Warbonds, which is why our table ranks on completion cost.
Can I buy a Premium Warbond with the 750 Super Credits from the free one?
No. Unlocking a Premium Warbond needs 1,000 Super Credits up front; the 300 rebate only arrives as you work through it. With 750 you are 250 short. The 750 does cover the 700 net cost once you have opened it.
Are Legendary Warbonds worth 1,500 Super Credits?
They are middling on Medals — 13th, 14th and 17th of 25. The cost is in Super Credits: 1,500 with no rebate against 700 net for a Premium, for the same kind of access. Buy them for the Halo, Killzone or Warhammer 40,000 gear, not as a deal.
How many Medals does it take to complete every Warbond?
19,325. The Helldivers Wiki recorded 18,522 on September 18, 2026, before Ironclad Democracy added 803.
Is there a limit on how many Medals I can hold?
Yes — the wiki gives a cap of 250, with anything earned above it discarded. That is the argument against saving up for a Warbond you have not unlocked yet.
Why does your ranking differ from other lists?
Two reasons. We count body armour as a gameplay item, because it carries an armour rating and a passive, where lists that treat all armour as cosmetic rank cosmetic-heavy Warbonds higher. And we divide by gameplay items rather than by total rewards, so a Warbond padded with patterns and player cards does not benefit from the padding. We also do not claim the ranking shows where gear is cheapest — see the Cutting Edge worked example for why those are different questions.
