Where do I find my Xbox Gamertag?

Your gamertag is the name other players see. Newer gamertags carry a # and four digits — if yours does, those digits are part of it and we need them.

On the console

  1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
  2. Go to Profile & system.
  3. Your gamertag is at the top, under your avatar.

If the suffix is shown here, include it — without it the tag may match several accounts.

On the web

Sign in at account.xbox.com. Your gamertag is on the profile page, and you can copy it exactly rather than reading it off a television.

Watch out for

  • Include the suffix if there is one. Tags without a suffix are unique; tags with one are not.
  • Privacy settings can block friend requests. If we cannot reach you, set friend requests to allow everyone until the delivery is done.
  • Game Pass matters for some purchases. Certain account and content services need you to own the game or have Game Pass — the service page says when.
