No, Modern Warfare 4 does not have a Zombies mode. Infinity Ward built MW4 around three modes: Campaign, Multiplayer and DMZ, a PvPvE extraction mode set in the Hajin exclusion zone. The closest thing to Zombies in MW4 is Infected, a party mode arriving on October 30, 2026. Round-based Zombies is still in Black Ops 7.
Does Modern Warfare 4 have Zombies?
No. Activision’s launch-day blog post describes MW4 as a new Campaign, 20 Multiplayer maps and the DMZ extraction mode, with no Zombies mode listed. Game Rant’s October 19 explainer says the same thing directly: there is no Zombies mode in MW4, because Infinity Ward focused on Campaign, Multiplayer and DMZ.
DMZ: MW4’s PvPvE extraction alternative to Zombies
If you liked Zombies for the AI enemies and co-op, DMZ is the closest fit, with one big difference: other players are in the zone too. Activision’s DMZ Initial Intel post calls it Call of Duty’s “definitive extraction shooter”.
- You deploy into Hajin, an exclusion zone on the Korean peninsula created by the events of the Campaign.
- AI enemy combatants and other players’ squads, called Rogue Operators, are both active in the zone.
- There are Story Missions, Dynamic Operations and match-to-match progression with an inventory you keep between runs.
- You can play solo or with a squad, and you decide when to push deeper for loot or extract.
The big difference from Zombies is that other players can hunt you too, and runs end when you extract or die rather than going round by round. If you are new to it, our MW4 DMZ level unlocks guide lists every reward from level 1 to 70.
Infected: the closest thing to Zombies in MW4
Infected arrives on October 30, 2026, according to Infinity Ward’s official roadmap. It is a Multiplayer party mode, not a co-op survival mode. Activision’s maps and modes post describes it this way:
- One player starts on the Infected team at random.
- Every Survivor the Infected eliminate joins the Infected.
- Survivors try to hold out as long as they can against the growing horde.

Where to play Call of Duty Zombies now
