MW4 DMZ Season 1 opens X01 on November 6, 2026: a former GRANIT Arms black site on Hajin’s northern border, reached by infiltrating through Hajin. It brings new DMZ Orders guided by Ghost, two new Lieutenants and two Commanders on the Boss Board, and two events announced for the first part of Season 1, Threat Briefing and Resupply Run. Enemies, items and gear inside X01 are still [CLASSIFIED].
All of this comes from Activision’s Season 1 announcement of October 28, which deliberately holds back many X01 details. If you want DMZ progress handled before the new zone opens, our MW4 boosting page includes DMZ services.
What is X01 in MW4 DMZ?
X01 is a new DMZ location for Season 1. Activision’s briefing describes a “previously undiscovered weapons facility” that North Korean forces have seized, set in a former Russian facility on the edge of Hajin’s borders. Current intel says it was a GRANIT Arms black site.
- How you get in: through Hajin. Reconnaissance on North Korea’s northern border found an infiltration point.
- Layout: cargo bays and vehicle depots, then underground labs, production lines and a sealed Deep Vault. Activision calls it a dimly lit maze of passageways, tunnels and linked chambers with multi-floor vertical routes.
- Enemies: troops and specialists from the 100 Spirits NK faction, plus “stronger, more brutal” patrols inside. Activision advises studying your options before fighting them head-on.
- Getting out: the facility closes off extraction points over time. You have to complete the required steps to escape, and Activision says to always know where the nearest exfil is.
Season 1 starts at midnight ET on November 6 (9 PM PT on November 5), or 05:00 UTC on November 6 by our conversion, on all platforms.

Ghost is the Watcher for X01 operations. He acts as your squad’s voice on the ground, tracking your route, flagging threats and hinting at what is left as you open new areas. Activision promises “multiple pages” of new DMZ Orders. The individual Orders and their rewards have not been published.
What is still classified in X01
The post lists these as [CLASSIFIED] or withheld:
- New enemies
- New items
- New equipment, described only as gear “unavailable elsewhere”, with rare finds possible on every deployment
- The FOB 3D Printer

New DMZ bosses: Knuckle, The Wrench, The Captain and a Wheelson
The FOB Boss Board adds four new targets for Season 1:
| Boss | Board | What Activision says |
|---|---|---|
| Tae-Hyun (“Knuckle”) | Lieutenants | Dangerous adversary; no location given |
| Chol-Min (“The Wrench”) | Lieutenants | Dangerous adversary; no location given |
| The Captain | Commanders | A Juggernaut with an elite guard, found in X01 |
| Wheelson | Commanders | An autonomous patrolling Wheelson; no location given |

Season 1 DMZ events: Threat Briefing and Resupply Run
Activision lists both for “the first part of Season 1”. It does not say whether either one is live on November 6 or starts later.
Threat Briefing
Threat Briefing teaches you to find and beat DMZ’s biggest bosses, then exfil with unique loot to earn rewards like rare gear and Survival Kits. Every squad member gets credit if one of them exfils with a part scavenged from a Commander. Two briefings are listed:
- Battle Tank (Hajin): fight a North Korean main battle tank and remove tank parts, one per deployment. More parts over more deployments means a better reward.
- The Captain (X01): fight the Juggernaut and gather sections of his helmet, then exfil for greater rewards.
How many parts each reward tier needs has not been published. More Threat Briefings are planned later in Season 1.

Resupply Run
Resupply Run is a race: find specific items at different points of interest and trade them in for high-value gear such as Self Revives and 3-Plate Carriers. The item list has not been published.
Activision also mentions special Commander Hunts and other DMZ activities across Season 1, without dates.
FOB changes in Season 1
- Battle Pass and Store Station: next to the Survival Kit Station, for the Season 1 Battle Pass, BlackCell and Store Bundles.
- Vendor: sells extra weapons and gear for DMZ Cash, but only if you own Season 1 BlackCell.
- 3D Printer: [CLASSIFIED].

The BlackCell Vendor is one of several BlackCell perks this season; our MW4 BlackCell Season 1 guide lists the rest. For what DMZ rewards at each level, see our MW4 DMZ level unlocks, and for the endgame track, our DMZ Operator Prestige guide.
