No. Modern Warfare 4 is not on PS4 or Xbox One. Activision confirmed it launches October 23, 2026 only on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2. Warzone is leaving PS4 and Xbox One too: it stays playable there until the end of Black Ops 7 Season 06, and stops when MW4 Season 1 begins, scheduled for November 6.
The platform list is in Activision’s May 28, 2026 announcement, which says the game “will not be available on PlayStation® 4 or XBOX One”. The same post adds Nintendo Switch 2 as a launch platform.

What PS4 and Xbox One players can do
You need one of the four supported platforms. If you play on PC, we list ready Modern Warfare 4 Steam accounts on our Modern Warfare 4 accounts page, with the Standard or Vault Edition already on them.
Before you pick, check two things:
- PC hardware. Our MW4 system requirements guide has Activision’s minimum and recommended specs.
- Game Pass. MW4 is not on Game Pass at launch on any platform. Our MW4 Game Pass guide explains why.
Is Warzone still on PS4 and Xbox One?
Only until MW4 Season 1. Activision’s Warzone Platform Update support article of June 5, 2026 lays out three stages for PS4 and Xbox One:
| Date | What changed on PS4 and Xbox One |
|---|---|
| June 4, 2026 | Warzone removed from the digital storefronts; no new downloads. Paid Battle Pass and local-currency store content removed; the free Battle Pass stayed. |
| June 25, 2026 | The Warzone in-game store removed, and the last day to spend COD Points there. |
| MW4 Season 1 | Warzone no longer playable on PS4 and Xbox One. |
The same article says Warzone stays playable on those consoles “through the end of Season 06 for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7”. New downloads stopped on June 4, but if Warzone is already owned in your platform library, you can still install it and play until then. Activision’s October 14 launch roadmap puts the start of MW4 Season 1, and Warzone’s move to MW4, on November 6, as our MW4 launch roadmap guide covers. The exact shutdown hour is Not confirmed.
Does your Warzone progress carry over to PS5 or Xbox Series X|S?
Yes, if you sign in with the same linked Activision account. Activision’s support article says your full progression and content bought with COD Points carry over to any supported platform.
Two things don’t move freely:
- Unspent COD Points are tied to the platform account. They move to the current-generation console in the same family (PS4 to PS5, Xbox One to Xbox Series X|S), not to PC or the other console brand.
- Most content bought with real money is also tied to the platform account and works on the current-generation console in the same family.
Camo progress from Black Ops 7 and Warzone has its own rules; see what carries forward from Black Ops 7.
